The Golden Gala in Rome is one of the world's most important athletic events. It is part of the IAAF Golden League circuit - Oslo, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Zurich and Brussels. Following a careful examination of the athletics disciplines and in an attempt to select the most exciting and most interesting events, the IAAF Golden League Working Group has decided that the 2011 Golden League events will be:
Men: 200m, 400m, 5000m, 110m Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus Throw
Women: 100m, 800m, 3000st, 400m Hurdles, High Jump, Pole vault, Triple Jump and Javelin throw
While 2004 marked the first appearance of the Discus Throw as a Golden League regular, all other events have a history of success in the Golden League.

The 31st edition of the Golden Gala of Athletics will be held in the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
The olympic stadium can easily be reached by public transport from Hotel Des Artistes.
Take metro Line A from Termini Station (direction Battistini). Get off after 6 stops at "Ottaviano - S. Pietro". Take bus 32 (Tor di Quinto) for 6 stops.
Get off at "Lungotevere Cadorna / Ostello della Gioventù".
